Sturgeon

The Umpqua River is a feeding ground for Green and White Sturgeon. They are here for one reason and that’s to eat and food is abundant. White Sturgeon in the Umpqua can reach 12′ and regularly catch them up to 8′. Hooking into one with a heavy salmon rod on 65lb. test line is an experience of a lifetime. When is the last time you hooked an 8′ fish that leaps 5 or 6 times and takes a half hour to land – and you’re more exhausted than the fish? Did I mention that they are an absolute delicacy? – huge fillets of white meat and no bones.
