Due to high flows, we can report that our Spring Chinook season keeps on going strong (most days) as you can see in this week’s pictures. The higher than average river level is hampering the Shad season for us here on the Umpqua River Loop. Once the river drops we should have a better report on the Shad. The smallmouth bass fishing has been good, but not red hot yet. Last week we were averaging around 30 bass per angler with some good sized fish and a few smaller bass now in the mix.
Hope you enjoy this week’s photos.

The Smallmouth are finally spawning this week. It was an awesome pre spawn bass season! We caught hundreds of Smallies in the 3 lb. to 6.2 lb. range. We are now fishing the spawn and catching is little slower away from the beds temporarily. And slower is a relative term on the

Springer fishing with Big K Outfitters has been slow this week on the Umpqua but the Smallmouth bite has been great. Mat Roland and his boys Brice & Brady from Central Point had the kind of day all Smalllmouth fanatics dream about. Mat started off the day with a 6.2 lb Smallie; our best of the year (our 6.2lb bass would be 7′s for many fisherman) The photos will tell the story of how the rest of the day went. All told I think we caught & released around 150 lbs. of Smallmouth… in April…. We love the Umpqua River!!!
